Clinical Pilates
- Pilates
Clinical Pilates is a method of muscle control developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. This method is based on six fundamental principles: • Centering – activating the core muscles during exercise. • Concentration – focusing attention on performing exercises. • Control – the exercise is carried out with concentration, movement control, and posture. • Precision – exercise technique quality is essential. Thus, exercises are performed with few repetitions, gradually increasing in difficulty, and at an appropriate breathing rhythm. • Breathing – exercises follow a suitable respiratory rhythm. • Fluidity – smoothly transitioning between various exercises. Through exercises that engage both the body and mind, Pilates promotes increased stability, strength, flexibility, motor coordination, and postural and respiratory control. This, in turn, boosts functional capacity, independence, and quality of life. Clinical Pilates sessions can be held individually or in groups.
